Your holiness and obedience is a supernatural miraculous work of the Spirit, NOT a result of zealous religious efforts on your part. This was foretold by the prophets:
“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.”
Ezekiel 36:26-27
This is an important principle about the Kingdom Jesus teaches us in prayer when he says,
“Do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from evil."
Luke 11:4
King Jesus is conveying that it is your Father in heaven that will deliver you from the struggles of sin in your life. You must quit trying to do so on your own;and beating yourself up with condemnation and guilt.
Again, King Jesus tells us,His disciples, that IF we remain connected to Him, He Himself will produce spiritual fruit in our lives pleasing to the Father:
“Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me. "Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father.”
John 15:4-5,8 NLT
Don’t you see?
You are laboring for holiness and purity through your own effort;but the most important labor is faith and prayer in your heavenly Father’s ability to personally deliver you from evil by the power of His Spirit! The most important effort is to get alone with God and seek His face for the power to live according to His will!
"And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.”
Luke 11:9-10 NLT
We do not save ourselves and neither do we sanctify ourselves; it is God’s miracle working in our lives by faith and prayer. Believe through faith that it is “He who sanctifies”(Hebrews 2:11) and that He sanctifies completely (1 Thessalonians 5:23).
And guess what? The news gets even better! Jesus uttered 3 words that solidifies your victory in this life:
“It is finished.”
John 19:30
This means that not only do you trust in God to deliver you from evil, but you can believe that it ALREADY HAPPENED! Jesus paid the price and finished all the work beforehand! You have all the spiritual blessings in heavenly places waiting for you if you by faith, receive it.
In God’s Kingdom EVERYTHING is provided for by your Father, even your ability to obey His Word. Good news indeed...
